Porsche, Data Analysis Intern

Freshman 2022

I’ve always believed that learning from textbooks alone is not enough; real-life experience is essential. While many students focused solely on academics, I sought hands-on experience from the very start of my college journey. During my freshman year, while I was still majoring in Business and Finance, with a lifelong passion for motorsport culture — particularly F1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans — I was thrilled to land my first internship with Porsche China as a Data Analysis Intern. This position gave me the chance to work with a brand I admired while diving into practical business analytics.

At Porsche, my main responsibility was to process and analyze data related to stock levels, sales trends, and estimated product arrival times, using Porsche’s SAP system and Excel. I also used Power BI to visualize insights that would inform strategic decisions for the Chinese market. This role pushed me to see the true power of data-driven thinking and helped me develop a highly analytical mindset. I realized how essential it is to ground every decision in data, a lesson that has influenced my approach in every project since — whether in marketing or entrepreneurship. This early experience with data analytics and business insights has made data an integral part of my problem-solving toolkit.

The most transformative project of my internship was being part of the 12-person team that launched Porsche China’s first official e-commerce platform. Working closely with the Aftersales and IT departments, I managed product listings and synchronized data from Porsche’s internal systems to the platform’s backend, ensuring a smooth transition from offline to online operations. This experience sparked a lasting interest in e-commerce and laid the groundwork for my first startup, which focuses on international e-commerce. Additionally, my exposure to supply chain management provided me with a strong understanding of the upstream sales process, which has greatly informed my work in international e-commerce. The practical skills and insights I gained from this project have continued to shape my ventures, reminding me of the importance of innovation in a digital marketplace.
