PwC, Campus Ambassador, Student Rep. of China 2022
Sophomore 2022
In the spring semester of my freshman year, I came across PwC’s Leaper program, their newly launched campus ambassador initiative at NYU Shanghai. As someone who had always admired PwC’s brand and corporate culture, I was excited by the chance to become NYU Shanghai’s first-ever campus ambassador for PwC. After a series of challenging interviews, I received the offer on the same day I accepted my internship at Porsche, securing a position as one of three PwC ambassadors at NYU Shanghai. The role focused on community building—using my influence on campus to strengthen PwC’s brand presence, connect students with the firm, and support students in their career development.
Once I began, I quickly saw that the responsibilities rested heavily on my shoulders. The other two ambassadors faced their own limitations; one was a junior studying away, often unavailable due to time zone differences, while the other, though capable, was far more reserved than the role required. This left me with the primary responsibility of building the PwC community from scratch—a unique challenge, as unlike other campuses, NYU Shanghai had no established PwC ambassador program or brand presence. Leveraging my influence on campus as a mentor within the Undergraduate Business Association (UBA), I actively promoted PwC to business students, expanding outreach through my connections with both Chinese and international students. I organized recruitment events and created engaging content that encouraged students to join our WeChat community, ultimately building a network of over 500 students. Through these efforts, I connected PwC with NYU Shanghai’s student body, elevating interest in PwC’s career opportunities and making our campus the most active for PwC recruitment in Eastern China.
My success as an ambassador, combined with my dedication and community-building skills, earned me recognition from PwC’s HR team. They invited me to become PwC’s 2022 Student Representative for China, where I hosted their annual campus recruitment livestream, viewed by over 100,000 people. In this role, I interviewed senior partners from PwC’s eight main business lines, providing viewers with insight into PwC’s scope of work and career pathways. This experience strengthened my connections with PwC’s HR team and partners across China and solidified my skills as a brand launcher—using my influence to build communities and drive customer acquisition, a talent that would later fuel my entrepreneurial journey.
